How does the 7-day free trial work?

Every new user gets full access to all 26 stories in all three languages for 7 days at no cost. The trial begins when you start your subscription from inside the app. If you cancel before the 7 days end, you will not be charged. You keep full access through the end of the trial period.

What does the subscription cost?

LYFYE Readers is $9.99 per month or $59.99 per year. The annual plan saves about 50 percent compared to monthly. Both plans include the 7-day free trial. All payments are handled by Apple or Google. We never see your card information.

How do I switch languages while reading a story?

On any story page, look for the language switcher in the top-right corner. Tap it to cycle between English, Spanish, and Mandarin Chinese. The page reloads with the new language audio and text. Your place in the story is preserved.

The audio is not playing on a page. What should I do?

First, check that your device volume is up and your headphones (if using any) are connected. Tap the play button on the page if autoplay is disabled. If audio still does not play, try closing the app fully and reopening it. If the issue persists, please send a bug report using the template at the bottom of this page.

Why is a story taking a long time to download the first time?

Each story contains seven pages of audio in three languages plus high-resolution illustrations. The first download is around 15 to 25 MB per story. After that first download, the story is cached on your device and opens instantly. Subsequent reads do not need an internet connection.

Can my child use the app without an account?

Yes. LYFYE Readers works fully without creating any account. You start the trial through Apple or Google billing, and the app does not ask for an email, name, or profile. We do not store personal information about your child.

What data do you collect?

We collect three things only: your subscription status (so the app knows whether the trial is active), crash logs for debugging, and basic device performance diagnostics. We do not collect your child's name, age, reading history, or behavior. All reading progress is stored on your device only. See our full privacy policy at lyfye.com/privacy.

What age range is LYFYE Readers designed for?

The app is designed for children ages 4 to 8. Younger children benefit from listening to the narration while looking at the illustrations. Older children in this range can read along with the highlighted text. Children outside this age range may still enjoy the stories, but the reading level and interaction design are calibrated for ages 4 to 8.

Are the historical stories accurate?

Yes. Every story is grounded in historical fact and reviewed by historical accuracy specialists. We do not invent events or quotes. Where a story simplifies a complex historical moment for an early reader, we do so in ways that preserve the truth of what happened. The Spanish and Mandarin translations were also reviewed by native speakers for cultural accuracy.

Can my family share a subscription?

Yes. LYFYE Readers supports Apple Family Sharing and Google Play Family Library. Once you subscribe, up to six family members on the same Apple Family or Google account can access all 26 stories with their own progress saved locally on each device.

Where is the parent dashboard?

Tap the gear icon on the home screen. You will be asked to complete a short parental gate (a multi-step interaction designed to require adult comprehension). After the gate, the parent dashboard shows reading time per language, stories your child has visited, and which stories they returned to most. The dashboard reads from your device only and never sends data to LYFYE.

Does the app work offline?

Yes, after a story is downloaded the first time. To prepare for offline reading (a road trip, for example), open each story you want to read while connected to WiFi. After the first open, each story works fully offline including all audio, illustrations, and interactive missions. The library home screen requires a brief connection to verify subscription status, but the stories themselves do not.

How does read-along work?

When a page plays its narration, the words on the page highlight in sync with the voice. Children can follow along visually while listening. This is one of the strongest ways to build early reading fluency. The highlighting works in all three languages.

Will you add more stories?

Yes. New stories are planned for future seasons. We typically release a new season every few months. Existing subscribers get all new stories at no additional cost. To suggest a historical figure you would like to see, email us at support@lyfye.com with the subject Story Suggestion.

How do I report a bug?

Use the bug report template at the bottom of this page. Email it to support@lyfye.com. We respond within 24 hours on weekdays. Including the device model, OS version, app version, story affected, and a clear description of what went wrong helps us fix things quickly.

How do refunds work?

Refunds for App Store and Google Play subscriptions are handled by Apple and Google directly, not by LYFYE. If you cancel during the free trial, you are not charged. If you are charged after the trial and want a refund, contact Apple Support or Google Play Support. LYFYE will support refund requests where the issue is on our end (such as a broken feature or content quality concern), but we cannot process Apple or Google billing reversals ourselves.

Can I use LYFYE Readers on more than one device?

Yes. Your subscription is tied to your Apple ID or Google account, so you can sign in on multiple devices under the same account. Each device tracks its own local reading progress (we do not sync across devices in v1.0, but this is planned for a future release).

What phones and tablets are supported?

LYFYE Readers supports iPhone and iPad on iOS 15 and later, and Android phones and tablets on Android 10 and later. We test on Pixel and recent iPhone devices. If you experience issues on a specific device, please send a bug report so we can investigate.

How is LYFYE Readers different from other kids reading apps?

Three things. First, every story features a real historical figure, not a fictional character. Second, every story is fully narrated by professional voice actors in English, Spanish, and Mandarin Chinese from day one. Third, we have no advertising, no third-party analytics, no social features, and no data collection beyond what is required to validate your subscription.

Privacy at a glance

LYFYE Readers is enrolled in Apple Kids Category and Google Play Designed for Families. No advertising. No tracking. No third-party analytics. No social features. Reading progress stays on your device. The only data we receive is your subscription status, handled by Apple or Google billing.
